Important Notice for All Vendors

New for 2026

Per the direction of the Townshend Select Board, vendor vehicles will no longer be permitted on the Town Common during festival setup, throughout the event, or during breakdown. This policy has been adopted to improve pedestrian safety and to protect the long-term health of the Historic Town Common. Repeated vehicle traffic compacts the soil around tree roots, reducing the air and water they need to thrive.

Food trucks, food trailers, and other vehicle-based food vendors will be assigned spaces along Common Road, between the Townshend Elementary School and the Town Common. Individual space assignments may vary based on vendor size, equipment, and festival layout.

To make setup and breakdown as easy as possible, Pumpkin Festival volunteers will be available to help vendors transport their displays, merchandise, and equipment between the parking area and their booth spaces.

We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to provide a safe, welcoming festival while preserving the Historic Town Common for future generations.

This is the 38th Annual Pumpkin Festival, and each year the attendance has grown.  The event is held toward the end of foliage season when there are many tourists in this area.

Festival Vendor Application (Please be sure to download and read the Townshend Common Use Policy)

Town of Townshend Common Use Policy

Location  –  “On the Common”  Route 30,  Townshend, Vermont

Sponsor –  West River Education District’s Townshend Pumpkin Festival

Space Size – Each space is approximately 12′ x 12′.  We will try to keep similar products separate from each other.  Exhibitors must bring their own tables, tents, etc. Space size is marked, additional space requires additional payment.  If you wish to demonstrate your craft, you are welcome to do so.  Each exhibitor is responsible for their own Vermont Sales Tax payment to the State of Vermont. Electricity is not available. WiFi will be provided.

WE OPERATE RAIN OR SHINE.  Show hours – 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Set up – begins at 7:00 a.m.  All vendors must move their vehicles to the school parking lot after set-up, which is across the street (Route 35). 
Please leave the closer parking for customers.

Make checks payable to West River Education District (WRED) and put “Pumpkin Festival” in the notes field. Mail the check and Application to Leland and Gray, c/o Townshend Pumpkin Festival, PO Box 221, Townshend, Vermont, 05353.

* Food vendors include prepared food e.g. Burgers, Fried Dough, Chili, Soups, Stews etc. If you are not sure whether you are a food vendor please call Kevin Burke (802-221-2169). All food vendors must provide an insurance binder ($1,000,000) in advance of the event. No alcoholic foods or beverages allowed.

Advertising – we will do multiple press releases in newspapers and shopper type media, plus some paid ads.  “The Townshend Common” being on Route 30, has the advantage of a great location with heavy traffic on the main route between Brattleboro and Manchester, VT.

No Dogs – We will do whatever we can to discourage visitors from bringing dogs into the Festival. Please help. Do not bring your dog. (Exceptions are for Service animals)
